If you are preparing your ‘case’ for approval to attend the 2024 Āpōpō Congress, you may wish to copy, paste and modify as needed the following:
The 2024 Āpōpō Congress is in Wellington 21-23 May. This full 3 day event will be attended by infrastructure asset management practitioners from central and local government as well as private asset owners, consultants, and service providers. Speakers from Te Waihanga the Infrastructure Commission, LGNZ, The Treasury, Kiwibank, and Ngati Toa will all be focused on infrastructure asset management. The technical programme will see me choosing from 34 presentations by sector leaders exploring Kaitiakitanga, Manaakitanga and Rangatiratanga in asset management.
All attendees will earn a verifiable micro-credential during the Congress from a choice of four topics covering Risk and Resilience, ISO55000, Te Ao Māori in Asset Management, and Asset Management Story Telling. I expect to meet a range of peers from around the country and build my professional networks – valuable for being deeply connected in the asset management world.
Alongside the formal learning opportunities and thought leadership sessions I will also meet relevant trade stand goods and services providers to discuss our needs. There will be showcases of projects and initiatives entered into the Asset Management Excellence Awards as well as a Poster competition, all sources of inspiration for both myself and the work our team does. I will also find out more about Āpōpō – Infrastructure Asset Management Professionals and its role in representing asset management practitioners and supporting us with training, resources, accreditation and advocacy.
